Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong To Rolling Stone: I asked [my wife] Adrienne, “How bad was it?” She said, “It’s bad.”

In an interview to Rolling Stone, Armstrong opens up about his downward spiral into drugs and alcohol. After smashing his guitar at a Vegas radio festival while screaming “I’m not fucking Justin Bieber” the singer finally came to terms with his substance abuse.

“I couldn’t predict where I was going to end up at the end of the night…I’d wake up in a strange house on a couch. I wouldn’t remember how. It was a complete blackout.” He goes on to say, ”I remember tiny things(of the Vegas incident)…The next morning, I woke up. I asked [my wife] Adrienne, “How bad was it?” She said, “It’s bad.” I called my manager. He said, “You’re getting on a plane, going back to Oakland and going into rehab immediately.”

There’s always something inspiring about seeing someone be honest with their situation and then picking themselves back up. Good for him.
