COOKING EXCLUSIVE-Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on top and perfection

Tonight I made homemade spaghetti and meatballs. Everything was completely from scratch. This dish can take a little time but when you have nothing else to do it’s a fun meal to cook. With a mix of spicy Italian sausage and ground beef, fresh herbs and garlic, these meatballs and sauce are to die for. Sprinkle a little Parmesan cheese on top at the end, and perfection.

I’m not going to go into all the details of every step basically because I’m too impatient to do so but here are some.

The meatballs are easy. Throw eggs, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic and onions, chopped fresh basil and parsley, salt and pepper and of course Italian sausage and ground beef and mix well into balls. I ended up using ground beef that had a little higher fat content to make sure the meatballs had tons of flavor. Then saute lightly and bake at 350 for roughly 25 minutes.

The Sauce was made with all the basics, tomato sauce, fresh herbs and dried herbs, diced onions and garlic etc. One thing I learned from my old roommate is to throw in one whole carrot and one piece of celery and let them simmer in the sauce, which extracts the flavor out of both.  It’s just a little extra step that helps the sauce taste a little more unique. Finally I added the meatballs and let them simmer for, yes I’m crazy, another two hrs. The flavor though is incomparable to any other sauce I’ve made.  I have finally mastered my homemade meatballs and marinara recipe.
